Our Food Philosophy

The backbone of this blog is food. Cooking should be about so much more than following a recipe. That’s why all of our fresh and delicious recipe ideas are created to be adaptable, wholesome, elegant, and simple.

We post recipes, videos, and stories that will appeal to all foodies. We also make sure that every ingredient we recommend can be sourced sustainably and responsibly.

Best of all, most of our recipes are made with veggies and herbs that can be grown in a basic raised-bed garden or indoor hydroponic system because we also think that growing your own food makes everything taste wayyyy better!

Special Diets

Gluten-Free

I was diagnosed with Celiac disease five years ago, and that’s where I began my gluten-free cooking journey. I love the challenge of adapting recipes for a gluten-free diet. Everything you will find on Savor + Harvest is gluten-free. So, if you have an allergy or are just experimenting with eating gluten-free, I hope that this corner of the blog will end up being your happy place.

Plant-Based (Vegan):

We’ve experimented heavily with both vegetarian and vegan diets, and were strictly vegan for nearly four years. Though we are no longer vegan (for health reasons), we still believe that cutting down on animal products is the most sustainable and healthy option for us. Therefore, the majority of our recipes are plant-based.

Sustainable and Humane Ingredient Sourcing:

We also think it’s super important to know where your food comes from. That’s why we work extra hard to make sure that, when available, our food comes either from our own gardens or from local sources that use the most sustainable, responsible, and humane practices.
